I don't know where to begin to express how thankful I am for this book. Confession: I have never enjoyed dating. I have been accurately called an "old soul" and have never enjoyed the process of dating someone new.

An ideal situation for guide is to skip ahead to months in when a comfort level is set and I can trust someone enough to be in comfy pants, watch Netflix, be real with, etc. My initial first date experiences often were between either a someone only wanting to sleep guide me or b someone who begins telling me I'm "the one" by our second date. I had always assumed it was because it was my gut telling me that the chemistry wasn't there, and that when I met the right person, it would feel "natural.

You may feel anxious and sick no matter what. I was brought to tears many times reading this book and Hattie's blog because I realized that I wasn't broken and I wasn't alone in anxious reactions and experiences in this area of life. I just have anxiety and that changes some things for me in how my body and mind react to situations. This book was a game changer for me. Once I was able to realize that my experiences with dating would be different because of my anxiety, I was able to be more kind and gracious to myself when I was dating.

I still listened to my instincts, but was able to be more discerning about men who were safe to spend extended time with despite having anxiety vs. I read this book a few days after ending things with someone I was seeing because my anxiety was still high after dating him for 3 weeks, even though he respected every boundary I set and was incredibly kind to me. Did I mention that I am grateful for this book? Thank you, Hattie, for sharing your experiences and wisdom.

I am grateful for you! While I'm married now and have been out of the dating world for several years, I can only wish for my incredibly anxious, anxious twenty something self that this book had been out years ago. In addition to dating wealth of strategies and suggestions for coping dating dating anxiety, this book simply makes me feel normal, which is something I sadly never felt as a young twenty something.

I highly recommend this book to any girl who struggles with anxiety related to the dating world, or just anxiety altogether. Hattie will make you realize that 1 you are not crazy, and 2 there are simple, totally not weird ways to tackle your anxiety and make the scary world of dating not only manageable but fun what? Girls was no help. Just an author going on about her own stories and anxiety issues. If anything, you may relate to some of her situations and not feel alone, but this was by no means a "guide" so the title is misleading.

Hattie possesses so much maturity and self awareness when it comes to living as an anxious person. She delivers her thoughtful suggestions in such a relatable way you feel at ease in reading; like listening to a friend, as she both understands things and is hilarious. I so often found myself laughing and nodding my head in agreement because I've been in situations having the same exact thoughts, full knowing that 'most people' would fault me for being 'crazy' to worry of such things.

This book has further helped manage my own anxiety and I can't stress enough that girls would be an invaluable resource for ANYONE dealing with anxiety issues, far surpassing the realm of dating alone. Hattie 'gets it' and this collective is a welcome and insightful read for which individuals of any degree of anxiety will benefit from. I loved this book! The author is not only insightful but hilarious as she candidly guides us through her personal experiences in the dating world.

Hope you have been well! Keep up the good work! I have nominated you for the Spirit Animal Blog Award, ifs voluntary but if you do want to join in, you can find the details here.

But she also takes back her own power and, in a way, her freedom. When Taylor Swift released folklore in July , listeners got a few more glimpses into the painful battle for her masters that was coupled alongside the heartbreaking betrayal of someone she trusted for years. For centuries, women have been minimized and ostracized, hunted and blamed, burned, lobotomized, isolated, and shamed, themes Swift has explored in countless songs.
